WERW hosts intimate evening with The Army, The Navy
The folk-pop duo and opener Grace Ferguson entranced fans with delicate songwriting and pitch-perfect harmonies.
On Saturday, Nov. 8, student radio station WERW hosted its annual launch party at the Schine Underground, headlined by The Army, The Navy, and opened by Grace Ferguson.
Student organizations and pop-up thrift stores lined the venue’s walls. Attendees scoured the racks for chunky sweaters and vintage dresses.
Student artist, Grace Ferguson, took the stage and soothed the audience with layered guitars and soft, yet dominating vocals.
Following her, the student audience welcomed headliner The Army, The Navy with cheers and screams. The folk-pop indie duo consists of lead vocalists and guitarists Maia Ciambriello and Sasha Goldberg. They played songs from their 2024 dual-release EPs Fruit for Flies and Sugar for Bugs.
Fans jumped around and sang along to songs like “40%,” “Alexandra” and “Persimmon.”
At the end of their set, Ciambriello and Goldberg asked all the vocalists and music students in the audience to harmonize with them at the end of “Wild Again.” The small student-event space turned into a cathedral as trained voices layered Ciambriello and Goldberg’s vocals. The rest of the audience joined in with power, singing the line “Feels like coming back.”
