2025 Spotify Wrapped arrives with new features, mixtape feel
Bad Bunny takes the top global artist spot and “Die with a Smile” takes top song.
“Happy Spotify Wrapped day to all who celebrate.”
On Dec. 3, people found this message on newsletters, emails and story posts. Spotify Wrapped has become a cultural phenomenon bordering on an international holiday.
Each December, users around the world anticipate a year-end review of their top songs, artists, albums, genres and podcasts.
Spotify Wrapped popped up for all users as a banner at the top of the app. Mixtape theme graphics filled users’ screens. They dove into their most-listened tracks of the year. This year’s release marked the decade anniversary of Spotify Wrapped.
This year’s report came in under pressure, following complaints about the use of artificial intelligence in 2024’s Spotify Wrapped. Spotify executives responded to these complaints and settled on an old-school mixtape-themed Wrapped. This year’s release only features one AI-powered aspect: a listening archive giving listeners a breakdown of their most memorable streaming days.
The 2025 report features two new subsections for users: Listening Age and Clubs. Listening Age is based on the release date of the songs you most listen to. Clubs separate users into 6 club-like categories: Soft Hearts, Serotonin, Cosmic Stereo, Full Charge, Grit Collective and Cloud State Society. Spotify Wrapped Party, another new feature, allows users to host a listening party with friends. Here, users can see which of their friends listened to the most music or who had the rarest music listening experience.
Wrapped also takes into account global listening counts, ranking the artists, genres, albums and more from users across the world. Bad Bunny was Spotify’s Global Top Artist, racking in 19.8 billion streams in 2025. Following in ranked is Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake and Billie Eilish. Spotify’s Global Top Song was “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Wars. “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” by Billie Eilish came in second for top song, moving up one spot from its number three placement in 2024’s Spotify Wrapped. “ATP” by Rosé and Bruno Mars came in third place.
Bad Bunny took the top spot for the global top album of the year, DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. KPop Demon Hunters (Soundtrack from the Netflix film), soundtrack from the hit Netflix movie, took the second spot. Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT came in third, returning to the top five for the second year in a row. SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA came in fourth and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet came in fifth on this year-end album review.
Podcasts also took up space on users’ Wrapped lists. Globally, podcasts took over, bringing together communities from across the globe. The Joe Rogan Experience claimed the top spot for global podcast streams for the sixth consecutive year. The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett came in second. The Mel Robbins Podcast came in third on this year’s list.
