Your Syracuse Super Bowl watch party guide
Your Syracuse Super Bowl guide
Whether you’re wanting to stay home or head out, there’s no shortage of ideas on how to best catch the Chiefs-Eagles face off in Super Bowl LIX.

The biggest night of football is coming up this Sunday, and sports fans in Syracuse are gearing up for a Super Bowl filled with food, drinks, and of course, rivalry. This year, the Philadelphia Eagles will face off against the Kansas City Chiefs in the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. For those watching the game from Syracuse, here’s the low-down on some spots primed for football viewing.
1. Watch party at the Barner-McDuffie House
On campus, the Black Student Union is hosting a watch party at the Barner-McDuffie House at 119 Euclid Avenue. The event begins at 6 p.m. and will run until the end of the game. Other students interested in watching the game on campus can stop by Schine Student Center and catch the play-by-play on the big screen downstairs.
2. Marshall Street bars
There’s no shortage of venues across Syracuse to sit down, eat up and cheer on the teams. Popular student spots for grabbing some wings and catching up with friends are Faegans and Orange Crate, both located just off Marshall Street. These bars are known for their weekly specials on drinks and are both promoting specials for Sunday night’s big game.
3. Off-campus venues
Off campus, there are plenty of restaurants, pubs, and bars that both students and locals can enjoy for Superbowl Night.
Wolff’s Biergarten is a traditional venue where soccer fans come to watch games, but this Sunday they will flip the switch and stream the Super Bowl instead. Fans can look forward to a casual and lively watch spot, gathering their family and friends around the picnic tables inside.
Another prime spot for Syracuse sports fans is The Hops Spot, known for its delicious poutine and an excellent draft list. In the back of the restaurant is The Game Room, a space for playing cornhole, darts, and arcade games – perfect for taking a break in between quarters. Don’t forget about the famed Super Bowl commercials though!
Closer to the SU campus is Harvey’s Garden, a large gathering space filled with live music, a rotation of food trucks, and a one-of-a-kind draft beer wall. On Sunday, Harvey’s will offer Toss & Fire Pizza from 2–7 p.m., giving ample time to order a pie and grab a seat before the game starts.
A family favorite in the Syracuse area is Tully’s Good Times, which has a location in Syracuse and another in Fayetteville. Known for ‘the best chicken tenders on earth’, Tully’s is filled with delicious food and many TVs to catch the game at any angle.
4. Host your own Super Bowl Party
Of course, football fans may opt to watch the game at home, crafting their own menu and hosting close friends. At-home Super Bowl watch parties are often BYOF (bring your own food) and are a fun way to munch on some delicious snacks without the rowdiness of a bar. Fans can up the ante by participating in games, like this Super Bowl Bingo template, or jam out to Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show.
“For Super Bowl Sunday, I have always been the type of person to stay at home and cook for friends and family,” said SU junior Meredith Taylor. “I’d prefer to watch the game from my own couch and have some of my favorite foods.”
In terms of favorite foods, each state has a specific dish for the Super Bowl that takes the cake. Across the country, the fan favorite is buffalo chicken dip, but in the Empire State, the favorite Super Bowl food is baked ziti. There’s no better way to enjoy cooking than making a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
No matter how fans choose to spend Super Bowl Sunday, it will certainly be a great day for having some good eats and catching up with friends, and SU students’ viewing options are limitless.
