2025 Spotify Wrapped arrives with new features, mixtape feel
Bad Bunny leads Spotify’s global artist list, while “Die With a Smile” takes the No. 1 song spot.
“Happy Spotify Wrapped day to all who celebrate.”
On Dec. 3, that message appeared across newsletters, emails and story posts as millions opened their Spotify apps to the annual data drop that has become a cultural event bordering on an international holiday.
Each December, users around the world anticipate Spotify’s year-end rundown of their top songs, artists, albums, genres and podcasts.
Spotify Wrapped popped up for all users as a banner at the top of the app, with mixtape-themed graphics filling screens as listeners dove into their most-listened tracks. This year’s release marked the decade anniversary of the annual tradition.
The 2025 edition came in under pressure, following complaints about the use of artificial intelligence in 2024’s release. Spotify executives responded to these complaints by scaling back AI and opting for an old-school mixtape theme.
This year’s version only includes one AI-powered feature: a listening archive giving listeners a breakdown of their most memorable streaming days.
The 2025 report also features two new subsections: Listening Age and Clubs. Listening Age is based on the release dates of the songs you most listen to. Clubs separate users into six distinct categories: Soft Hearts, Serotonin, Cosmic Stereo, Full Charge, Grit Collective and Cloud State Society. Another new tool, Spotify Wrapped Party, allows users to host a listening party with friends and compare who streamed the most music or had the rarest listening habits.
Wrapped also highlights global listening counts, ranking the artists, genres, albums and more from users across the world. Bad Bunny was Spotify’s Global Top Artist, racking up 19.8 billion streams in 2025, followed by Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake and Billie Eilish. Spotify’s Global Top Song was “Die With a Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. “BIRDS OF A FEATHER” by Billie Eilish ranked second, rising from its No. 3 spot in 2024. “ATP” by Rosé and Bruno Mars placed third.
Bad Bunny also secured the top spot for Global Top Album of the year with DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS. KPop Demon Hunters, the soundtrack from the hit Netflix film, took the second spot. Billie Eilish’s HIT ME HARD AND SOFT ranked third, returning to the top five for the second year in a row. SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA placed fourth and Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet rounded out the top five.
Podcasts held a noticeable place on users’ Wrapped lists this year. Globally, they continued to draw large audiences and connect listeners across countries. The Joe Rogan Experience claimed the top spot for the sixth consecutive year, followed by The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett. The Mel Robbins Podcast ranked third.
