8 things you need to know about the Love Island USA season 8 reunion

From Melanie and Sincere’s uncertain future, to Kayda and Zach’s move-in and Bryce and Trinity’s post-villa relationships; here’s what happened at the Season 8 reunion and what came next.

Whether you watched every episode of Love Island Season 8, or you caught highlights on TikTok; the reunion was something fans had been waiting on the edge of their seats for. The special aired Monday, Aug. 31 on Peacock bringing two hours of receipts, fact-checking, and tension…but the reunion wasn’t necessarily the end of the Season 8 drama.

  1. Melanie and Sincere are NOT dating… yet?

The couple everyone wanted an update on is still figuring out what comes next. Melanie Moreno and Sincere Rhea were one of Season 8’s earliest pairs, but their relationship got tested when bombshell Sol Dean entered the villa and Sincere started splitting his attention between the two women, eventually choosing to recouple with Sol before circling back to Melanie.

The two ultimately placed third at the finale, but the love triangle left trust issues that clearly didn’t disappear once the cameras stopped rolling.

As of August 10, the reunion filming, Melanie says her and Sincere are not officially boyfriend and girlfriend, and they are waiting to see what happens in the outside world. When co-host, Andy Cohen, asked Melanie if she trusted Sincere, she hesitated for a while and said… “we are building trust.”

  1. Drama orbits around Sol

For those who didn’t watch the season, Sol Dean was the bombshell who arrived in episode 6.She instantly became the center of Melanie and Sincere’s love triangle, and she brought that energy onto the reunion stage. Sol claimed from day one that the girls were objectifying her body and antagonizing her, which Melanie said she was “shocked,” to hear. Sol is clocked when unseen footage shows a deep conversation between her and Melanie, where Sol opens up about losing her dad in 2023 and being homeless for a year. During the conversation Melanie apologizes for how she acted when Sol first came in, and promises to step back and give her and Sincere space. Sol also got caught exaggerating how many times she had been pied during a challenge, when hosts Ariana Madix and Andy Cohen fact-check for the final number (it was only two pies). Sol also clashed with Trinity Tatum over comments Sol made on a livestream concerning Trinity’s relationship with winner Bryce Alakai.

  1. Corbin and Parmida split

Fans weren’t shocked to hear that Corbin Mims and Parmida Keshani split after speculations were made on social media before the reunion aired. But their explanation left viewers with lots of questions; basically Parmida said they wanted different things and Corbin admitted the chemistry was great but they experienced ups and downs in the real world. I think both the viewers and Ariana wanted more details but Corbin just stuck with the explanation that it didn’t work out.

  1. Caleb and Jaiden tried… but it didn’t work

Caleb McDaniel and Jaiden Bacciocco were a couple that viewers were shocked to hear even tried. The two had slept together after leaving the villa but then issues arose. It seemed like the two were on different pages. Caleb said they weren’t going much of anywhere, but Jaiden felt as though he was leading her on without putting in effort… especially after a hookup in the Hamptons that was followed by an oddly-worded breakup text, which she asked if Jen Terry helped write. Kayda Bosse butted in that hooking up goes both ways. Ariana called the comment harsh, and Titi Davis then called Kayda’s comment crazy and said, “I feel like you have no place to even say that to her.” Later in the show we even hear Jen say that she is unfollowing Jaiden after her comments(I checked and neither of them currently follow each other). It is worth noting that Caleb also has become one of the season’s biggest stars off the show.

  1. Social media followed the islanders home

Nearly every couple raised the same issue, that life after the villa gets shaped by social media. KC Chandler and Titi Davis, who’s Casa Amor recoupling became one of the season’s most-memed moments, with Titi’s, “I’m Titi!” line going viral, which revealed just how much backlash followed the couple home. KC said he’s stayed off social media after receiving racial slurs and death threats. Trinity even apologized for any negativity from her own fans. Beatriz “Bea” Hatz,  pointed out comments targeting the disabled community. Even small things, like Titi being dragged online for their reunion red carpet look turned into her posting on Instagram asking fans for a little grace since it was her first ever carpet event. Also, live stream conversations and comments being liked during the reunion also added fuel to the fire.

Overall, the reunion was filled with drama and most questions being answered.

  1. Kayda and Zach went from Villa couple to living together

While some Season 8 couples left the Villa unsure about what would happen next, Kayda Bosse and Zach Georgiou have taken a much bigger step.

The pair finished fourth together and officially became boyfriend and girlfriend after avoiding labels while inside the villa. The couple have now moved to Los Angeles, where they share a home with Zach’s brother, Charlie Georgiou who starred on Season 7 of Love Island USA

After hearing news of the couple’s new label and move in together, it sparked many fans and viewers’ commentary

  1. Bryce and Trinity are taking “Brinity” Beyond the Villa

Season 8 winners Bryyce Alakai and Trinity Tatum also appear to be embracing life outside the Villa together. The pair entered the show as Day 1 Islanders, and became boyfriend and girlfriend during the season, ultimately winning the $100,000 prize.

Since the Villa and reunion, the couple has continued to appear together publicly, including Trinity alongside Bryce at his DJ events. They even appeared together in a collaboration with the New York Yankees.

  1. Melanie and Kenzie Reunite

Since the reunion aired, the cast has continued to live a fast paced lifestyle. Kenzie Annis and Melanie have appeared to move past their earlier falling-out, as each of them made their rounds at New York Fashion Week. Kenzie made her runway debut at the Public Parts show, and the two were seen reuniting backstage afterward.
