New York State’s annual Maple Weekend is back for the 30th year, and farms across Central New York are excitedly welcoming customers into stores.

Maple Weekend is a long-standing tradition throughout New York state that allows locals to learn about the maple production process and taste pure maple syrups right from the source.

Smokey Hollow Maple Syrup, a maple supplier in Jordan, N.Y., is opening its doors to customers this weekend and next for samples, specialty-made maple desserts and a pancake breakfast. Jordan is about 30 minutes away from the Syracuse University campus.

Staff members at Smokey Hollow Maple Syrup have served the Central New York community in their current location since 1986. Gabriella Giacovelli, a maple educator at Smokey Hollow Maple Syrup, said Maple Weekend is greatly impactful to the business’ success.

“Maple weekend is important because we only have two weeks out of the year where we offer maple products this way,” Giacovelli said. “It accounts for 1/3 of our total sales for the year, and it gets people to come out who otherwise wouldn’t.”

New York state is one of the nation’s leaders in maple production. In 2025, the state produced 829,000 gallons of maple syrup, placing it second in the U.S. There are over 2,000 maple producers total throughout the state.

In celebration of Maple Weekend, Smokey Hollow Maple Syrup is offering one of its best-selling products, Maplechinos, which are their version of a frozen maple cappuccino. They’re also a well-loved product each year at the New York State Fair.

Smokey Hollow is also featuring maple cotton candy, maple peanut brittle, maple popcorn and countless other desserts. The store also has a variety of maple syrups that are available for tastings and purchase.

Smokey Hollow is known for its annual pancake breakfast each year during Maple Weekend. The first weekend of the pancake breakfast was canceled this year due to a family emergency.

The pancake breakfast will take place March 28-29 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets can be purchased for $10 for adults and $5 for kids. Smokey Hollow employees expect a large turnout for the breakfast.
