SU Women’s Soccer draws against Binghamton
The Orange struggle to find the back of the net during a rainy contest that ended 0-0.

A rainy Thursday evening set the scene for the matchup between Syracuse Women’s Soccer and the Binghamton Bearcats at SU Soccer Stadium.
Neither team was able to part the clouds in time before the clock struck as the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
“This is their first weather game that we’ve had to deal with,” Syracuse head coach Nicky Thrasher Adams said, adding that the team “just couldn’t get the rhythm” because of the rain
The players of the game for both sides were the goalkeepers, who combined for 15 saves and both picked up clean sheets.
SU senior goalkeeper Shea Vanderbosch made seven saves on the day continuing her impressive season, conceding only four goals in seven games.
“Shea’s Shea, she’s solid,” Thrasher Adams said. “She’ll always make one or two saves that keep us in a game.”
Bearcats goalie Rebecca Kessler made eight saves, including a last-minute stop in front of the goal that ended the game in a draw.

That chance to win it late is an all too familiar feeling for the Cuse, with two of their most recent contests slipping away due to unfortunate circumstances.
“We got two goals taken away against Quinnipiac, scored a goal against Princeton and they don’t call it, that’s two wins right there,” Thrasher Adams said, suggesting her team is better than the record displays. “We need to make the most of our opportunities.”
Binghamton controlled much of the contest during the first half in the pouring rain.
That included a shot from Anna Buckwalter that clanked off the crossbar and Vanderbosch’s back, until she was able to corral it before it rolled over the line.
Once the rain calmed down for the start of the second half, Syracuse started to piece it together.

Graduate student midfielder Emma Klein had multiple good chances on net, including a physical play that won the ball and forced a good save from Binghamton’s Kessler.
Unfortunately for the Orange, it wasn’t in the cards to pick up a much needed victory.
Syracuse now sits at 3-1-3, including three straight draws. The next test is Sunday against the Cornell Big Red, before ACC play gets underway for the Cuse against SMU.
“Just back into our identity,” Thrasher Adams said about what the Orange need to do to win before heading into ACC play. “We have to have that defend-to-attack mentality that we’ve been so good at.”
