Fetty Wap returns to Syracuse, and this time he shows up

More than a decade since Fetty Wap’s last Syracuse appearance, along with a notable last-minute cancellation as the 2016 Juice Jam headliner, the “Trap Queen” rapper made up for lost time and then some Friday night.

Fans at the near-capacity Landmark Theatre were treated to two straight hours of Fetty Wap and the Remy Boyz as part of the “Nostalgia Tour,” billed as hits spanning 2016-2026.

The New Jersey rapper leaned hard into the catalog that made him a household name over the past decade, running through “My Way,” “679,” “Jimmy Choo” and, of course, “Trap Queen.” Each met with a roar from the crowd that made clear the songs that jump-started his career hadn’t dulled over the years.

The energy in the theater was immediate. Fans packed in, energetic and loud, singing along to just the hooks before Fetty even started singing.

But the set wasn’t strictly nostalgia. Fetty worked through a string of songs off his 2026 comeback album, Zavier, including “Favorite Girl,” “White Roses” and “Fool For You.” The new material doubles as a window into the three years he served in federal prison for drug trafficking conspiracy.

The surprise wasn’t that Fetty played them, but rather how many people in the crowd already knew every word.
