RIT scored three unanswered goals to defeat Syracuse women’s ice hockey 4-1 on Saturday.

The Orange started off strong with junior forward Jacson Kinsler scoring her second goal of the season, capitalizing on an unassisted play after a wonky bounce in the first period.

Unfortunately the Orange could not keep that momentum going, only having 29 shots on goal and struggling in the faceoff circle.

The Tigers then tied things up with 4:27 left in the first period on a nation-leading 13th powerplay goal, this one off the stick of Linda Rulle. That momentum continued into the second period with a goal 9:24 in. The Tigers extended the lead in the third period and eventually sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.

Freshman goalie Ava Drabyk had 28 saves during the loss.

The Orange struggled during the power plays, going 0-2, while RIT was 1-for-4.
One bright spot for the team was its 19 blocked shots, led by Jessica Cheung, Jocelyn Fiala and Sami Gendron, who each notched three.
